Intravenous fluid shortages appear to be affecting the majority of the nation’s healthcare providers, who as a result are already beginning to cancel procedures, survey data published Thursday show | Premier said 86% of its provider members are reporting shortages, and more than half have less than 10 days supply on hand. Nearly 60% of the experts who reviewed manuscripts for four prominent medical journals received at least one payment from industry during a recent three-year period and, overall, these reviewers or their institutions received more than $1 billion from companies, according to a new analysis. But new data provide evidence that this trend is slowing, at least for now. On Thursday, the CDC released new data showing that almost 15.5 million U.S. adults are living with ADHD. More than half of those individuals received their diagnosis in adulthood. That includes me. The diagnosis came as a relief and validation — a way to understand years of impulsivity, inattention, and struggles with daily life.
