The role of communitypharmacies has seen significant shifts in recent years prompting a need for a proactive approach to meet evolving patient expectations. Digital pharmacies not only offer medication delivery, but they may have an array of services including telehealth consultations and virtual medication counseling.
With this knowledge, they can implement operational changes that mitigate the harm of drug shortages to patients. For example, securing the same product from a different manufacturer or ordering it from a secondary wholesaler is a relatively seamless way to increase a pharmacy’s supply of a drug.
