For many years, we used a 24-hour cartfill model aided by two carousels and the ROBOT-Rx central pharmacy robot. We decided to keep our cartfill dispensing method and implement Omnicell's Central Pharmacy Dispensing Service, including the XR2 Automated Central Pharmacy System. This built confidence in our staff.
Most central pharmacy operations operate on a centralized model (cartfill), decentralized model (cartless), or a hybrid of the two. At my health system, Cape Regional Medical Center in Cape May County, New Jersey, we were running a 24-hour cartfill model. Employee satisfaction is one of Cape Regional's key initiatives.
However, as the system reached its upper limits, the team sought new options with Omnicell's XR2 Automated Central Pharmacy System. Join Jamin Engel, PharmD, MBA, BCSCP, Regional Director of Pharmacy for the Western Region of Sentara Healthcare, during Omnicell Illuminate 2021 on Wednesday, Oct. 6 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
